Inspiration for stories comes from unexpected sources.
Sometimes I'm served amazing morsels that have to be savored as a short story.
A text message from a colleague saying that her four year old son wanted to take his pet 'looper' caterpillar to bed became The Little Green Caterpillar
A parting comment after a Landcare meeting about kangaroos drunk on fermented banksia flowers became 'Amie and the intoxicated kangaroos'.
Another friend survived a ricochet bullet neck wound when he was out hunting foxes and this became 'Coxy's Curse'.
The terrible hail storms of 1997 became 'Brushtail'.
'How River Red Gums came to be - A Dreamtime story' is an extract from 'Seeds-the chronicle'
'Richards Sweet Rewards' was written to entertain good friends who are growing trees on their farm for forestry.
On my way home after a walk around Black Gully dam in the Inverleigh Nature Conservation Reserve I saw a heap of old lounge chairs and a couch that someone had disappointingly dumped beside one of the bush tracks and this became 'Cormorant'.
I hope you enjoy these glimpses into the people and places that are part of my country living and working environment
